Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation Tribute The Hon. Obediah Wilchcombe

NASSAU, Bahamas, Sept. 25, 2023 /CNW/ — It’s with deep unhappiness that we, on the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, obtained the information of the passing of the Honourable Obie Wilchcombe this morning.

Minister Wilchcombe’s distinguished political profession spanned near thirty years, dedicating greater than a 3rd of these years to the management of the Ministry of Tourism throughout his two tenures as Minister of Tourism, from 2002 – 2007 and 2012 – 2017. His two stints on the helm of management left an indelible mark on our group. Furthermore, Minister Wilchcombe’s heat, affable character endeared him to the workers at each stage throughout the Ministry.

Minister Wilchcombe’s decisive management drove continued development and growth of our vacation spot’s tourism enterprise, considerably elevating the worldwide footprint of The Bahamas and showcasing our vibrant tradition to the world. Beneath his management the Ministry of Tourism deepened its area of interest markets, reenforcing sports activities tourism, non secular tourism, and rising journey engagement from the African-American market.

Minister Wilchcombe’s type of management was exemplary, at all times putting the wants of The Bahamas and its folks on the forefront. He believed in consultative participation. He mentored Senior executives and numerous different members of workers demonstrating his unwavering perception in empowering Bahamians.

The Hon. Obediah Wilchcombe joins the ranks of Nice Bahamians who made our beloved Bahamas a greater place. His contributions are immeasurable, and he persistently embodied character, self-discipline, and distinction wherever and at any time when he was known as upon.
