The historic Totem Pole Playhouse in Fayetteville, PA, where Jean Stapleton honed her acting skills, is set to reboot its renovation project to honor the late “All in the Family” star, TMZ has learned.
Originally planning a modest $5,000 facelift for its 50-seat clubhouse, the theater has decided to expand its renovation plans in memory of Stapleton. This wing of the theater, built during Stapleton’s heyday, was a testament to her ability to consistently draw large audiences.
Jean’s late husband, William Putch, took over as director of Totem Pole in 1953. It was here that the couple met and collaborated on nearly 300 productions. Initially, the renovation was dedicated to Putch and two others, but following Stapleton’s passing at age 90, the theater decided to include a tribute to her as well.
The new plans for the renovation include framed photos of Stapleton, a written proclamation from the state recognizing her achievements, and a tribute video to be played before all performances. The blueprints are already completed, and the theater provided TMZ with one of the mockups.
This project will serve as a lasting memorial to Jean Stapleton’s remarkable contributions to the stage and her enduring legacy in the world of entertainment.
