Life has a way of imitating art, and for All My Children alum Eva LaRue (ex-Maria Santos), it delivered a dramatic twist worthy of a soap opera. The beloved actress recently revealed a surprising discovery: she has a sister she never knew about!
LaRue, who also starred as Celeste Rosales on The Young and the Restless, shared the astonishing news on social media. An at-home DNA test from 23andMe unveiled a sibling she hadn’t known existed, expanding her family circle in an unexpected way.
“It’s a girl!” LaRue playfully announced on Instagram. “We expanded our family! Thanks to 23andMe, we are suddenly four sisters (and a brother, of course)! Sometimes, when you’re minding your own beeswax, life throws you a huge plot twist!”
LaRue, along with her known siblings—sisters Nika and Lara, and brother Luis Jr.—and other family members, recently met their newfound sister, Stacy Hiles Lynch, and several members of the Lynch family. The family “reunion” was an overwhelming success, filled with joy and connection.
“Our new family members fit right in like we’ve been together all along,” LaRue shared. “What a crazy miracle to be connected through relatively new DNA technology. So many feelings, revelations, and puzzles to wade through and piece together. How weird, wonderful, and incredible this life.”
Stacy Hiles Lynch echoed LaRue’s excitement about finding her newfound family. “Thank you, 23andMe, for helping me find my family!” she exclaimed. “We have new cousins, uncles, aunts, and I have three new sisters! So much love to share! What an amazing weekend.”
Eva LaRue’s career is as dynamic as her personal life. She portrayed Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children from 1993 to 1997 and returned from 2002 to 2005. She also reprised her role briefly in 2010 for the soap’s 40th anniversary and again in 2011 for its network finale. In 2019, she appeared on The Young and the Restless as Celeste Rosales, the mother of Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), Lola (Sasha Calle), and Arturo (Jason Canela). Her extensive credits also include roles in CSI: Miami, Fuller House, Santa Barbara, and Third Watch.
Eva LaRue’s real-life plot twist is a testament to the unpredictable and miraculous nature of life, much like the soap operas that have made her a household name.
