A Glimpse into Mariska Hargitay’s Early Life
Hargitay’s mother, Jayne Mansfield, was a Playboy Playmate and a successful actress. Mansfield also worked at the Tropicana Holiday’s striptease revue. Hargitay’s father, Mickey Hargitay, was a bodybuilder who held the title of Mr. Universe. The couple met during the Mae West revue, where Mickey was performing, and they married in 1958. They even appeared in a few films together. However, their marriage ended in 1964, leaving them with three children, including Mariska and her brothers, Zoltan and Mickey Jr.
Tragedy struck early in Mariska’s life when her mother died in a car accident in 1967. Mariska, who was three at the time, and her two brothers were also in the car. According to History.com, Jayne Mansfield, her boyfriend Sam Brody, and their driver Ronald B. Harrison were killed in the crash. Mariska and her brothers survived but were injured. They were raised by their father and his wife, Ellen, alongside their half-siblings.
