Montreal firefighters battled a four-alarm blaze spanning two residential buildings in Dorval Saturday afternoon.
First responders have been known as to the nook of Dawson Avenue and Backyard Crescent round 1 p.m. The caller mentioned they noticed smoke billowing from a balcony on the third ground.
The reason for the fireplace is not but identified. Hearth Division Chief Marie-Eve Beausoleil says balcony fires usually begin due to barbeque points and unextinguished cigarette butts.
Flames unfold from the balcony to the roof, after which expanded to the roof of the neighbouring residential constructing.
About 20 minutes after authorities obtained the decision, dispatchers elevated the urgency to the four-alarm catagory, and greater than 100 firefighters descended on the blaze.
Firefighters evactuated 32 residences between the 2 buildings. Seven residents sustained accidents because of smoke inhalation.
The Crimson Cross was on website to offer short-term housing to evacuees. Eighteen households have been relocated.
Firefighters say preliminary info suggests the fireplace was not prison.
