The Reason Behind Kelli Giddish’s Brown Wig in SVU Season 13, Episode 19

In this gripping episode, a rapist is terrorizing Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, prompting a group of costumed vigilantes, dubbed the “Justice League of New York,” to patrol the streets at night. As public outrage grows over the rapist’s elusiveness, an activist group organizes a “Slut Walk” to reclaim the streets. Amidst this turmoil, Rollins goes undercover, dressing attractively and walking through SoHo at night to bait the rapist. She wears a dark wig to match the perpetrator’s preferred victim type. Instead, she encounters two injured members of the “Justice League” and resumes her investigation with her blonde hair intact.

Ice T’s Wig Transformation

Speaking of hair transformations, Ice T, who plays Detective Fin Tutuola, wore a blonde wig for a “House of the Dragon” sketch on “Saturday Night Live” in 2022. His unexpected look as a Targaryen was hilariously surprising, making fans wish Detective Fin would go undercover more often.

Kelli Giddish’s Integral Role in SVU

Although no longer a main character, Amanda Rollins still makes occasional appearances in the “Law & Order” universe, and fans can’t imagine the show without her. Reflecting on her journey with SVU, Giddish shared with Smashing Interviews magazine how she became part of the iconic series.

“I had a meeting with someone in the Dick Wolf Productions arena, and then they pulled me out to come screen test,” Giddish recalled. “I was living in Los Angeles at the time. I had just finished a show called ‘Chase.’ It was on for a season, and I was the lead on that. It was such a great time, and I was figuring out what I wanted to do next.”

Giddish continued, “I got a call that Chris Meloni was leaving the show, and they were looking for maybe a male and a female to step into his shoes at ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.’ I said, ‘Oh, that sounds pretty interesting.’ I’d lived in New York, and I loved New York, so I came out here to screen test. I did the screen test with Mariska with Dick Wolf watching.”

Giddish’s seamless integration into the SVU team and her compelling performances have cemented her as a beloved character in the “Law & Order” franchise, ensuring her legacy endures in the hearts of fans.
