SiRT investigating after arrest results in injury in N.B.

The New Brunswick RCMP say they’ve requested the Critical Incident Response Group (SiRT) to evaluation actions taken by police after a person sustained accidents throughout an arrest in St. Stephen N.B.

In a Friday information launch, police say they noticed a person on Union Avenue whereas coping with an unrelated matter. Police believed the person had excellent arrest warrants.

The person then allegedly fled from police on foot right into a wooded space, prompting police to name the RCMP Police Canine Companies and an RCMP Remotely Piloted Aerial System operator to help with the search.

After finding the person, police say they arrested the person, who sustained minor accidents.

Following additional evaluation of the occasions, New Brunswick RCMP say they referred the incident to SiRT for an unbiased investigation.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
